How to Not Cheat

We know you already understand that it’s bad to cheat. And, you know that  there are consequences to your actions if you do cheat. But, rather than discuss the outcomes, let’s talk about why students think about cheating, how some instructors look at it, and how you may look at cheating yourself. Then, we have some resources to help you avoid cheating in the first place.

You’re going to be spending a lot of time in class and studying. We want  you to succeed, and we all know it isn’t easy. It takes time and effort. More time and effort than we want to spend, or have time to available as well.

Let’s look at your brain from a sports perspective. Think about at soccer players. The ones competing at FIFA’s World Cup did not walk into the field that day never having played before. Those athletes spent years training every day to get to that level. It took a lot of  time and effort (many went to university too, so they know what you’re going through as well). They probably started working out, practice running fast, playing with the soccer ball, competing against each other, and doing what they need to in order to get themselves into top condition and ready to compete for that World Cup.

Even regular folks that do snowboarding, skiing, or Canadian football – take the time to learn how to do the sport, then exercise, and practice. Why? Because they want to do better than when they first started.

So, shouldn’t we start exercising our brain before we dive into final exams?

How do we do this? Well, there are many ways. Let’s start with looking at the ‘Why’ some folks think about cheating.

There are three videos, below these videos are resources to help you start ‘working out’ your brain and prepping it for college – so that you’ll be better prepared to take those tests each semester.
