How to Contact Instructors

Below are some helpful hints on how to contact your instructor as well as expectations for replies. Students in a class with their hands up

  1. Check your course outline in Brightspace – email address should be included.
  2. Faculty are to return emails during business hours and within two business days.
    1. What this means:
      1. If you email an instructor at 11PM, do not come to their office at 8AM asking why they haven’t responded. We like our instructors to sleep and have work-life balance. It keeps them from getting cranky.
  3. Use your instructor’s office hours. They are there for you to ask questions about assignments, class work, instructions, etc. They even enjoy you coming by – it’s a break from marking.
  4. Ask for an appointment to meet them if you’re not available during the instructor’s office hours. But, note – they do not meet students off-campus and outside of regular hours. Zoom appointments can be made as well.
  5. Turn up a bit early to class or ask if you can chat after class. If the instructor has time, they are usually great with chatting before or after for a short time. However, this is dependent upon if they have another class to teach.
  6. You find instructor’s intimidating. That’s ok. Our faculty are professionals and they will treat you respectfully as well. You are always welcome and we encourage students to talk to their instructors.
  7. You were in a classroom and no one seemed to be there. Contact us through this form, or come to B201. The administration office is open from 8:30AM-4:30PM, Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays and campus closures.
